This hits me so hard; "I thought that these artists’ lack of visibility might be a choice or even a deliberate act of rebellion against patriarchal, capitalist societal norms." Until now I'd never seen this articulated, and it feels very freeing to know that I'm not alone in enjoying the power of this decision. Thank you for your writing about it.

Why can't we just create and be happy with that?

If someone likes/validates what we put out it doesn't necessarily mean it becomes a way to our bills...if we can't pay our bills doing what we love, will we have the energy and space and time to create?

More decolonisation. This time of the art world. As i decolnise myself it becomes more obvious what I have no truck with and I begin to reshape and redefine the external in a mirror dance.

I have tried to conform to what is asked/expected but I don't think I'm made that way. So I'm gonna go right ahead with my no awards, shitty Instagram, no website having, lack of buissiness card self and see what happens.
